I love the fun oriented aspect of summer swim - being outside, Fun Friday's and the team bonding experiences such as meets and banquet. Most of my swim team experience derives from being a summer swimmer for the Salisbury Elks from age 6 to 18.
This is my second year at Urbana High School, where I am a Special Education teacher and the Head Swim Coach (where our boys won counties this year!)
Previously, I was the Head Coach of the Ben Oaks Swim Team in Severna Park for four Summer swim seasons (2021 - 2024). I was also the Assistant Swim Coach at Chesapeake High School during the winter of 2021 - 2022 where I helped the team break 10 school records.
Favorite Stroke: Breaststroke
I started swimming competitively later in life, at the age of 40, with a US Masters Swim team. I have competed at the local, national level, and international level - competing at the World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) in 2015 (where I won the gold medal for the 200 free). The WPFG is a biennial athletic event open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel throughout the world.
I started coaching Wahoos Summer of 2024 and that gave me the bug to coach young swimmers. There’s nothing better than watching kids who’ve never competed in swimming before gain confidence, improve their skills, and truly fall in love with the sport and the thrill of competition.
The Wahoos Team has a strong sense of community and team spirit. Everyone supports one another, celebrates each other’s progress, and genuinely enjoys being part of something bigger than themselves.
I also coach at Fox - if you have any questions about swimming year-round, please ask!
Favorite Stroke: Freestyle....I love the longer distances!
I love swimming - I’ve been on a Club team for several years.
I’ve participated in summer swim since I was five years old.
I’ve been on the Urbana High School swim team for two years.
I’ve been a junior coach for four years.
My favorite part of the Wahoos is being around all the kids, being outside, and how everyone always likes to help out (even the young kids).
Favorite Stroke: Freestyle … no question
I am a junior at Urbana High and have been swimming for 13 years - swimming club for about 11 years and FOX National Training Group for the past 4 years. I have spent the past 2 summer’s as a junior coach and am looking forward to my first season with the Wahoos!
I love summer swim for the connections I make, not only with the swimmers, but everyone involved in the sport. From parents to officials, I love how tight knit this sport is and how it supports everyone involved within it.
Favorite Stroke: Long distance freestyle
I just finished my freshman year at University of Maryland and am so excited to be back with the Wahoos this Summer!
I spent 10 summers on the Wahoos swim team and was a Junior Coach for the last 6 of those years. I love how the Wahoos team feels like family; everyone is super friendly and supportive of each other, no matter their experience or ability!
Favorite Stroke: Freestyle
I am a Junior year at Urbana High and have been swimming for 9 years (coaching for 3 years).
My favorite part of Summer Swim Team is the community. There are so many bonds created between people that would never be friends without Summer Swim. I have friends that are all different ages and that makes it really enjoyable as I am able to see them swim well and achieve their goals.
I love to see the effort that everyone puts in towards getting better. It doesn't matter how fast or how old people are. Every year you see everyone giving their all in every practice and every meet. I think that's one of the reasons for our recent success is that are willing to put in the work to be able to win. This winning culture has made the team very enjoyable to coach and to swim for.
Favorite Stroke: Backstroke
